Archaic Culture – Mobile Hunter-Gatherers
The Archaic culture, dated by GSENM scientists from 7,000 BC to 100 BC, were known as “Mobile Hunter-Gatherers”. These people hunted, but with the extinction of Pleistocene animals like mammoths, their range decreased and they began hunting smaller game. Following a seasonal round these people hunted a variety of smaller game and gathered plant foods to incorporate into their diets. The Archaic culture was previously known as Basketmaker I.
